Ever wonder what to do in a major disaster?
Since a victim or bystander provides the first immediate assistance in most emergencies, West Seneca is offering emergency response training to prepare residents to help themselves, their families and neighbors.
The six-session free emergency preparedness class covers fire extinguishers and suppression, first aid and triage, light search and rescue, disaster psychology, techniques for rescuer safety, and more. In the last class, participants will practice the skills that they learned during in a disaster activity simulation.
The four-hour classes, given by the town Office of Disaster Preparedness and West Seneca CERT, (Community Emergency Response Team,) start at 9:30 a.m. Feb. 24. Participants also will be building a disaster response kit of items they will need during a disaster.
