A developer plans to build 17 houses on seven acres between Sheridan Drive and Maple Road in Amherst.
James Gesel wants permission to build the subdivision at 150 Ayer Road, a rectangle of vacant land that stretches from Ayer west to Youngs Road. Gesel has owned the land, which is zoned for residential housing, since 2015.
Gesel said he would build 16 of the houses on quarter-acre parcels, and the last on a nearly two-acre parcel where he plans to live. A public road into the subdivision would end in a cul-de-sac.
Gesel, who lives near the property now, said he hopes to begin site work this spring and finish the homes within two years. He hasn't set the prices yet.
The Planning Board will hold a hearing on the project's sketch plan on Feb. 15, the first step in the review process.
