Canisius favored to win MAAC women's lax

Defending champion Canisius earned nine of the 10 first-place votes in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference women's lacrosse preseason poll. Niagara was picked to finish fourth.

Jordan Roemer, junior attack from Canisius was voted preseason Player of the Year in the poll.

Roemer was among three Griffs selected for the preseason All-MAAC team. The others were midfield Jen Reininger and goalkeeper Rebecca VanLaeken. Roemer had 39 goals and 29 assists for 68 points for Canisius last season.

Two Niagara players, attack Rachel MacCheyne and defense Alexandra Higgins, were were voted to the preseason All-MAAC  team also.
