Buffalo officers arrested a man with a loaded gun who was a passenger in a vehicle they stopped at Hertel and Sterling avenues Friday afternoon, according to Buffalo Police.
After officers pulled over the vehicle for speeding and other infractions about 4:30 p.m., the passenger got out with a handgun and fled, police said.
As officers chased the individual down Sterling, the man pointed the firearm at them, police said. The man scuffled with officers before he was apprehended in the first block of Sterling, police said.
Demetrius R. Jackson, 23, of Buffalo, was charged with criminal possession of a loaded firearm, menacing a police officer with a gun, obstruction, resisting arrest, criminal possession of marijuana and other charges, according to police.
The driver also fled on foot but has not been apprehended, police said.
The two officers were taken to Erie County Medical Center for treatment of injuries, police said..
