Sweet Home's 4x200 relay team is going big time Saturday.
The crew consisting of Panthers seniors Nate Davis, Anthony Williams, Eric Johnson and Thomas Rivera will be among six high school relay teams to race during the Dr. Sander Invitational at The Armory in New York. The event begins at 3 p.m. but will be shown via tape delay at 5 p.m. on NBCSN.
The meet consists of professional, college and scholastic athletes.
Sweet Home's relay team earned an invitation to the race as a result of winning the Penn Relays in a school-record time (1 minute, 31.74 seconds) earlier this month. The team consists of the same four runners who not only won the New York State Public High Schools Athletic Association championship in the outdoor 4x100 relay last spring but also became the first from the section to ever win the overall Federation title in the same event.
The relay team is unbeaten in indoor competition this season. According to coach Brian Lombardo, the 4x200 race is slated to be televised around 6:15 p.m.
