State University of New York Chancellor Kristina M. Johnson has recruited a University at Buffalo administrator to serve as her chief of staff.
Teresa A. Miller, a member of the UB law faculty and the university's first vice provost for equity and inclusion, was named on Tuesday to her new post in Albany, where she also will serve as vice chancellor for strategic initiatives.
A Harvard Law School graduate, Miller joined the UB law school faculty in 1995 and specialized in immigration law, criminal procedure and prisoner law. UB President Satish K. Tripathi selected Miller in 2014 for a new cabinet-level position as vice provost for equity and inclusion.
Miller led work on developing the university's first strategic diversity and inclusion plan and launched Difficult Conversations, or DIFCON, a series of forums allowing various members of the campus community to express honest opinions on controversial topics in a civil discussion.
Miller's new appointment is effective Jan. 29.
