Two former real estate agents at Nothnagle Realtors and then Howard Hanna Real Estate Services have spun off on their own to form an independent, women-owned brokerage firm.
Beth Matthews and Nancy Reynolds this week launched Envision Real Estate as a new boutique firm, based in Orchard Park. That fulfills their longtime vision to start their own business, building off an existing 5-year-old team Matthews created at Nothnagle, after working in real estate in Texas. They have four additional agents.
"We believe that the people come first and the house comes second," Matthews said. "While the objective is to get clients into the home they belong in or to help them sell their current home, we take a very personal approach."
Pittsburgh-based Howard Hanna bought Rochester-based Nothnagle in 2016 and then RealtyUSA in 2017, catapulting the out-of-state firm into the No. 1 position in upstate New York. But the combined new company was too big for Matthews' taste.
"At the end of the day, everyone has their own philosophies and models. This move was made for us," Matthews said. "While we gave the Howard Hanna model some time to see how it would transpire, the giant broker does not really align with how we approach business. Rather than gripe about it, we decided that this was just the sign that it was time for us to take the leap and go out on our own."
