CALGARY – The Sabres have a thin blue line once again. They've recalled Matt Tennyson to make it fuller.
Buffalo lost defenseman Nathan Beaulieu to a possible concussion just 3:11 into Monday's 2-1 overtime victory in Calgary. Josh Gorges missed the game with an illness, leaving the Sabres with only six available blue-liners.
Tennyson gives them an extra for Tuesday's visit to the Edmonton Oilers. The defenseman started the year in Buffalo, playing 14 games with no points and a minus-8 rating. The 27-year-old has one assist and a minus-7 in 23 games with Rochester.
The absence of Beaulieu and Gorges could lead to the long-awaited return of Victor Antipin. The defenseman hasn't played for the Sabres since Dec. 19, missing 13 games due to illness and healthy scratches.
Antipin has four assists and a minus-3 in 24 games for Buffalo.
