Orchard Park is forming a committee to look into the Recreation Department taking over the operation of parks from the Highway Department.
The Recreation Commission proposed the change last September, and was aiming for a town board decision by Jan. 1, said Audrey Ramage, chairwoman of the commission.
"We wanted our plan to be implemented by April of this year," she said.
Highway Superintendent Fred Piasecki suggested last month a committee be formed. Councilman Michael Sherry said a committee including Supervisor Patrick Keem, Piasecki and Ramage is being formed to "dive down into the weeds" of the proposal, including the financial and logistics that might be involved in the change.
