A public meeting will be held 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23 about a proposal to make a portion of the Broadway-Fillmore neighborhood a Certified Local Historic District.
The meeting will be held at Lt. Col. Matt Urban Human Services Center of WNY, 1081 Broadway. Historic East Side Neighborhood Initiative and Preservation Buffalo Niagara, and project consultant Preservation Studios, will discuss the benefits of such a designation and seek input.
The designation would allow eligible property owners to take advantage of state and federal tax credits for property improvements. It would also provide protection under the Buffalo Preservation Ordinance against demolition and inappropriate development.
The project has received a $7,000 grant from Preservation League of New York State, and a $2,000 matching grant from Fillmore Council Member David Franczyk.
