Spotty electrical service in some areas of Cheektowaga is affecting traffic signals in different parts of town that could affect the evening commute for residents.
Flickering traffic signals were reported at Union Road and William Street, as well as on Galleria Drive, a dispatcher for the Cheektowaga Police Department confirmed Monday afternoon.
Outages have also been reported in the Cayuga Creek Road and Harlem Road areas, where several traffic signals are not operating.
Motorists in these areas are being advised to use caution.
In the meantime, Cheektowaga Police said, the town has dispatched sign crews with generators to a few affected locations.
Lights have also been manually reset at various locations.
Over 1,000 customers are without power in the Cheektowaga and West Seneca areas. NYSEG estimates the power will be restored by 9 p.m.
