Two dozen pigs were seized Tuesday from a Cattaraugus County property where 128 neglected animals were seized in 2002, according to Farm Sanctuary, a non-profit organization.
The pigs, most of which were between 1 and 6 months old, were described as being "sick, emaciated and mange-ridden," the organization said.
The group did not identify the property owner nor the property from which the animals were taken, but claimed pigs there were being sold for human consumption.
With the group's shelter in Watkins Glen at capacity, about 60 more pigs remain on the property and the organization is seeking to find places willing to adopt them through their Farm Animal Adoption Network, according to the group.
The rescue operation was done in collaboration with the Cattaraugus County SPCA, Farm Sanctuary said in a news release.
