New York State officials have established in a 35,000-square-foot facility in Hamburg a stockpile of items that may be needed in severe weather events, disasters or other emergency situations.
The state, which did not disclose the specific location, said the site was "strategically placed in Hamburg." The site also will be used as a staging location for emergency vehicles and personnel for responses in the Western New York region.
The supplies stored there include 26 light towers, 138 pumps and hoses, more than 100,000 sandbags, a sand bagger, 700 cots, more than 1,000 each of blankets and pillows, 88 generators, 500 flashlights and 36,000 cans of water.
The site is the 10th set up across the state, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo's office said.
