It was a bit of musical chairs in the Village of Blasdell Wednesday night as the mayor resigned, the deputy mayor took over, then the board appointed a new mayor.
Mayor Michael Petrie, who joined the Hamburg Town Board Jan. 1, submitted his resignation during the mayor's report section of the meeting, where he said he was pleased to have been able to serve the village. Then he left.
Deputy Mayor Kathy Seufert King took over, and under new business, the board voted 3-1 to appoint Rob Hefner as mayor. King voted no.
The board also appointed Joseph H. Shaw Jr. village attorney and Leonard Zaccagnino village prosecutor, rescheduled its March 21 meeting to March 14 and took steps to start the demolition process for a vacant house at 3621 South Park Ave.
And the meeting was over in 25 minutes.
