National Football League Commissioner Roger Goodell caused a celebrity stir when he stopped by Williamsville's Creekview restaurant for drinks Sunday afternoon.
As NFL playoff games played on the restaurant's televisions, people took selfies with one of the game's big hitters. "He was a gentleman to everybody in the place, taking pictures with people," said Bill Jacobbi, Creekview general manager.
Goodell, who was born in Jamestown, was in Buffalo Saturday for the wedding of former Bills quarterback Jim Kelly's daughter Erin. He was with a friend who is a local real estate agent, Creekview owner David Schutte said.
Goodell had chardonnay or another white wine, Jacobbi said.
Goodell had to leave to catch a plane to Minnesota, for the Vikings-Saints game on Sunday. "On his way out, I said, 'Sorry that people bothered you, I know you just wanted to have a quiet drink with your friend. He said 'No, it's nice. People in Buffalo are super friendly.' "
