Planning Board OKs Jericho Road nonprofit project

The Buffalo Planning Board on Tuesday evening approved a request by a charitable foundation working on behalf of Jericho Road Community Health Center to combine two properties on Lombard and Clark streets as part of its renovation of a former department store into a medical clinic and nonprofit office space.

Mosaic 659 Foundation, founded by Jericho board member Mark Herskind of Baillie Lumber, plans to merge 243 Lombard and 224 Clark - which share a "party wall" - so that it can create an efficient third-floor clinic for Jericho Road in what had been the former Jahraus-Braun Department Store and later Zoltie's Furniture store building.

The remaining 35,000 square feet of the three- and four-story complex could be used by a group of 12 other nonprofits that want to co-locate with Jericho Road.
