The Buffalo Planning Board on Tuesday backed a request by an East Side church to convert part of its facility into a day care center for infants through toddlers.
The Lincoln Memorial United Methodist Church needs an adaptive-reuse permit from the Common Council to renovate the pastor's office, parlor and two Sunday school classrooms into three rooms for children and an office. The space would be leased to ABC Learn & Play to run the day care, which would take a maximum of 32 kids.
The church at 645 Masten Ave. – which took over the former Trinity United Methodist Church building in 1954 and touted plans for an educational and nursery program – had operated a similar facility from 1969 to 1979, said Charley H. Fisher III, chairman of the church council. The Planning Board recommended approval.
