A Delaware man pleaded guilty Tuesday in U.S. District Court to the crime of interstate travel with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct with a minor.
Austin Campbell, 45, of Smyrna, Del., began communicating on a social networking application with an undercover agent, according to the U.S. Attorney's office. Campbell was convinced that the agent was a 15-year-old girl from Buffalo and began engaging in very graphic sexual conversations with the agent via chat messages.
On Aug. 23, Campbell traveled from Delaware to a truck stop in Cheektowaga where he sent the agent a message to meet him in the parking lot. Campbell was arrested at that time.
Campbell faces a maximum possible sentence of 30 years in prison when he is sentenced April 5 by U.S. District Chief Judge Frank P. Geraci, Jr.
