State police have arrested an Alden father after his 4-month-old son suffered injuries consistent with shaken baby syndrome.
Joseph T. Jurek, 28, was arrested Tuesday and charged with first-degree assault, reckless assault of a child, child endangerment and third-degree marijuana possession, the State Police said.
Troopers responded to a residence on Exchange Street on Jan. 7 for the report of an infant injured in a fall. The boy's parents took the child to Oishei Children's Hospital.
State Police investigators determined the child suffered "bilateral subdural hemorrhages which was the result of shaken baby syndrome," police said.
Jurek was arraigned in Alden Village Court and was remanded to the Erie County Holding Center in lieu of $25,000 bail.
