Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo has a favorability rate among likely voters of 62 percent to 30 percent, the highest in his eight years as governor, according to a poll conducted by the Siena Research Institute released today.
The news comes as Cuomo is preparing to unveil his eighth state budget plan as governor today.
The poll also found that Cuomo's job performance rating is up to 50 percent to 48 percent, up from 45 percent to 54 percent in November.
Also 55 percent of likely voters said they would vote to re-elect him. Cuomo is expected to seek a third term in the fall.
"He is viewed favorably in every region, including upstate, for the first time since last May, by a 10-point bulge," said Siena College pollster Steven Greenberg in a state released Tuesday. "While a majority of Republicans still views him unfavorably, 41 percent view him favorably, up nine points from November."
