BIG AND BIGGER – Crafters and artists will offer their wares for three days next weekend in “Shopping With WNY Heroes,” a vendors’ show in Lt. Col. Matt Urban Post 7275, Veterans of Foreign Wars, 3741 Walden Ave., Depew. Hours are noon to 6 p.m. Friday to Sunday.
Sales will take place at the post and online. For more info, visit vfwamvets7275.org. Many vendors will donate a portion of their sales receipts to WNY Heroes, which assists veterans in need.
A luncheon will be served at 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $25 and must be purchased in advance. For more info, call event coordinator Candida Johnson at 563-7966.
Tickets will be available all weekend for the post’s raffle of a 55-inch Roku 4K Ultra High Definition TV set, which will be drawn on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 4. Chances are $5 each, three for $10 or seven for $20.

HAPPY HOMES – West Seneca author Joe Kirchmyer visits Dog Ears Bookstore, 688 Abbott Road, from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday to sign copies of his latest book, “My Pet Connection: Inspirational ‘Tails of Adoption,’” which features stories from dozens of people who have adopted cats and dogs from Pet Connection Programs, an animal shelter in Marilla. WARM INSIDE – The Lake Effect Furies, an internationally-ranked Queen City Roller Girls roller derby team, will host their annual Soup and Chili Cook-Off from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday in Appliance Associates of Buffalo, 200 Amherst St.
Tickets are $10, which include tasting and judging of soup and chili entries. Prizes will be given for best soup, best chili and best vegetarian dish. Proceeds will support the team as it travels to compete at the Division 1 level.

STARTING UP – Volunteers and clients are needed for a dementia respite program which will begin March 13 in Asbury United Methodist Church, 850 Dodge Road, Getzville.
