People of Togo could teach our president some manners
I understand that, according to Fox News commentator Jesse Watters, our so-called president’s crude, insulting description of African countries and Haiti is the way “ordinary people” talk. Well, I guess that I am not ordinary, nor are most people with whom I am acquainted. Instead of ordinary, I would describe President Trump’s vulgar reference as that of an ignorant, arrogant bigot.
I had the tremendous opportunity while serving in the Peace Corps to live in Togo, one of these “deplorable” countries. All I can say is that the welcoming, kind and gracious way in which I was treated by the Togolese during my two years there is a far better example of demonstrating “greatness” in a country than what our sad excuse for a president displays.
