Honorable Republicans appear to be in hiding
Listen, can you hear it? If you listen very closely you can hear the disintegration of our society and the political system that made the U.S. a country the whole world admired and attempted to emulate. People flocked here looking for an opportunity to live in freedom, peace and justice. It really started in 1630 when John Winthrop, while still on board the Arabella, spoke to his listeners, “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill that cannot be hidden.” And that’s how its been for almost 388 years. This motto has been repeated by many leaders and held up as an aspiration.
We are now saddled with a majority party that is not Republican, for honorable Republicans are in hiding. Those in power are spineless, self-seeking miscreant millionaires. They stand by with smug smiles as the splendid union crumbles without an apparent care, stripping those with little or moderate means as they fatten the pockets of the wealthy. How can they sleep at night?
I don’t have enough space here to catalog the sins of the leader of this careening vehicle we all share. It is not necessary if you have been paying attention. It is horrendous! And those who have drunk the Kool-Aid follow along blindly, like lemmings going over a cliff.
Can America survive? I am not sure. The same phenomenon that existed during the campaign is true now. The polls are not accurate. There are many Trumpistas hiding in the bushes. Our only salvation lies in every able-bodied, right-thinking person voting. Thomas Paine said it so eloquently: “These are the times that try men’s souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country … Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered …” Vote, please.
