College Hoops: UB women on road at Ohio; Bona home

Junior Cierra Dillard, the Mid-American Conference East Player of the Week, and the University at Buffalo women will be looking to add to the best Bulls' best start in the Mid-American Conference when they play at Ohio University at the Convocation Center in Athens, Ohio tonight (Radio 1520, 7 p.m.).

The Bulls (13-3, 4-1 MAC) are coming off conference victories over Miami (Ohio) and Ball State last week in which Dillard led the team in scoring each game. She averaged 19.5 points, 6.5 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists while averaging 35.0 minutes a game.

In UB's last visit to Athens, the Bulls were routed, 83-55, by the Bobcats on Jan. 4, 2017. Ohio is 9-7 overall, 3-2 in the MAC).

Amani Burke leads Ohio in scoring at 13.4 ppg. No. 2 scorer Cierra Hooks (12.7) is coming off a career high 22 points in a win over Western Michigan.

Senior Mariah Ruff will make her 100th career start for St. Bonaventure in tonight's Atlantic 10 Conference game against Rhode Island at 7 p.m. in the Reilly Center. Ruff has scored 20 points or more in her last four games.

No Bona player had scored 30 points or more in a game in nearly six years before Ruff hit for a career high Jan. 3 at Saint Joseph's. Ten days later she did it again with 30 in last Saturday's loss at La Salle.

With a roster depleted by injury, the Bonnies (6-12, 1-4 A-10) have lost six of their last seven games. Rhode Island is 2-16 overall and 0-5 in the conference.

D'Youville's men and women's teams will visit Medaille tonight for an Allegheny Mountain College Conference doubleheader in the Sullivan Center. The men's game will be at 6 p.m. with the women's game at 8.

The Medaille men (8-7, 5-3) have won their last three games. Senior Mike Hollenbeck, who went over the 1,000 career points mark two games ago, leads the Maverick men (15.5 ppg). Juan Miguel Rosales (13.5) is high scorer for the D'Youville Spartans (5-8, 3-5).

The Medaille women have a 1,000 point scorer, too, in senior Dani Reinwald (Clymer). Reimer has 876 points at Medaille in three seasons but she is over 1,000 when her sophomore season at Penn State Behrend is included. Reinwald averaged a double-double in points and rebounds for Behrend, where she scored 354 points before transferring back to Medaille.

Jordan Smith (Hamburg) is the leading scorer and rebounder for D'Youville (4-10, 3-4). The Spartans will be trying to end a three-game losing streak.
