Beer notes: Party with Beer Goddesses, Brewski at 42 North

Sponge Candy stout from Resurgence

Resurgence Brewing Company (1250 Niagara St.) will release its 2018 Limited Batch Imperial Sponge Candy Milk Stout on Jan. 20. The 10 percent ABV beer is brewed with Watson’s sponge candy and lactose sugar to lend a creamy mouthfeel as well as flavors of chocolate and caramel. Call 381-9868.

Meet the Beer Goddesses

The Buffalo Beer Goddesses will host its post-holiday party at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 18 at the Tonawanda Bowling Center (574 Young St., Tonawanda).

At the event, the Goddesses will announce the winners of the Cicerone scholarship, as well as its 2018 club officers. The Tonawanda Bowling Center has 48 beers on tap, all at $5 per pint, and the Goddesses will provide food purchased from the center as well.

Attendees can also participate in the annual Secret Ninkasi bottle exchange (bring a gift-wrapped 22-ounce or 750-mL bottle to exchange if interested), which will take place at 8 p.m. Call 694-4120.

Brewski tickets on sale

42 North Brewing Company will hold its second annual Brewski event, hosted at Knox Farm State Park (437 Buffalo Road, East Aurora) from noon to 3 p.m. Feb. 24. Tickets are available via pre-sale registration at for $20, or at the event for $30 (cash only).

The event features a trek through 2.5 miles of snow with multiple beer stops along the way, as well as a tapping of 42 North’s small batch hot cocoa stout.

Ticketholders will get four 5-ounce beer samples as well as a complimentary beer at 42 North for the after party. The first 250 registrations will receive a souvenir tasting glass. Proceeds benefit the not-for-profit Aurora Ice Association. Leashed dogs are welcome. Call 805-7500.

Prohibition Porter from NYBP

New York Beer Project (6933 S. Transit Road, Lockport) will release its Prohibition Porter at 5 p.m. Jan. 18. The 5.3 percent ABV beer is brewed to resemble an English porter from the pre-Prohibition era, and contains notes of caramel, biscuit, licorice and toast. Call 743-6927.
