Buffalo man charged after striking woman's garage with car

A Buffalo man was charged with driving while intoxicated after police said he drove his car into the garage door at his ex-girlfriend's home in Lewiston.

Lewiston police said the door was left inoperable after being struck in the early evening hours of Jan. 7. The driver fled the scene, but was found sitting in his car in a nearby church parking lot, according to police reports. Officers said they also found an open bottle of vodka inside the vehicle.

Patrick J. McDonnell, 60, of Crescent Avenue, was charged with DWI, leaving the scene of a property damage accident and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, according to police reports. The woman whose garage was struck requested an order of protection.
