Benderson Development Co. will expand a retail building in the Eastgate Plaza in Clarence to make room for a City Mattress store, part of a musical-chairs shifting of three businesses along the Amherst-Clarence border.
Benderson this week received approval from the Clarence Planning Board for an addition that would double the size of its 4,500-square-foot building at 4927 Transit Road, just north of Sheridan Drive. That building houses a Yankee Candle outlet.
Eric Recoon, Benderson's vice president of development and leasing, said City Mattress plans by the summer to move from the Eastview Plaza, at 4927 Transit in East Amherst.
Yankee Candle will move to a building at 5175 Transit that already hosts CoreLife Eatery and N/eat. And a Tuesday Morning store will move from the Transitown Plaza, 4295 Transit, to the former City Mattress space.
