M&T Bank will hold a public tribute to the life of the late Robert G. Wilmers, its longtime chairman and CEO, at 3 p.m. on Jan. 22 at Kleinhans Music Hall.
Wilmers died at age 83 on Dec. 16 in New York City, and a funeral service was held there on Dec. 21. While the service drew many high-profile Buffalo figures from politics and business, M&T also made plans for a tribute to him in the city where the bank is headquartered.
Scheduled speakers at the Buffalo event include Mayor Byron Brown, M&T board member Robert T. Brady, Albright-Knox Art Gallery director Janne Siren, and Jacobs Institute founder Dr. Nick Hopkins. Also speaking will be Wilmers' son Christopher, a wildlife biologist who gave a poignant, personal eulogy at the funeral service.
