A Warsaw man was arrested over the weekend and accused of attacking a 19-year-old woman in her Silver Springs home, state police said.
Cory M. Goodenow, 23, hit the woman with a baseball bat and tried to obstruct her breathing on Jan. 5, state police said.
Goodenow was released from prison on Dec. 21 and was on parole for his Sept. 16, 2016, plea and conviction in Wyoming County to attempted second-degree rape.
He was charged Saturday with second-degree assault and aggravated family offense, both felonies, and misdemeanor counts of second-degree menacing, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and criminal obstruction of breathing. He also was charged with violating his parole.
He was remanded to the Wyoming County Jail with no bail by Warsaw Town Justice Ronald Errington and is scheduled to appear in Village of Silver Springs Court on a later date. He also will face a parole revocation hearing.
