The Sabres are dipping into their prospect pool by calling up two of the biggest names. Buffalo has recalled defenseman Brendan Guhle and goaltender Linus Ullmark from Rochester.
The 20-year-old Guhle joins the Sabres for the first time this season. The first-year pro has seven goals, 13 assists and a team-high 91 shots in 35 games with the Amerks.
The second-round pick from 2015 appeared in three games with Buffalo last season after an emergency recall from junior hockey.
Ullmark was recently named to his second-straight American Hockey League All-Star Game. He is tied for the league lead with 17 wins in 26 appearances and is fourth with a .928 save percentage.
Ullmark has an 8-11-2 record with a .913 save percentage in 21 games with the Sabres over the last two seasons.
Buffalo goaltender Robin Lehner took a shot to the neck during Sunday's 4-1 loss in Philadelphia.
The Sabres return to action Tuesday when they host Winnipeg in KeyBank Center.
