Dare to Repair broken items at upcoming workshop

Fix it. Don’t ditch it.

Bring your broken lamps, vacuum cleaners, toasters and toys to the University Heights Tool Library’s Dare to Repair Cafe.

It’s where expert volunteer “fixers” show people how to rewire their old lamps, reglaze old windows, stitch torn clothing and fix small appliances.

The Dare to Repair Cafe is a free community event in which skilled repair people help volunteers as they to try to repair items alongside them. Volunteers will even help fix tools, bicycles and furniture.

There is no guarantee that all items can be fixed, but participants can learn something new and have fun along the way, organizers say.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Jan. 27 at Reinstein Woods Education Center, 93 Honorine Drive, Depew.
