SMALL TALK – South Buffalo’s Dog Ears Bookstore, 688 Abbott Road, is beginning a new series of “Puppy Tales” storytime sessions for youngsters Friday. Cost is $25 for six weekly sessions and registration is limited to 20.
Puppy Tales is open to children ages 2 to 4 and begins at 10:15 a.m. on Fridays. Each session features three stories, a craft and healthy snacks. Children must be accompanied by an adult. For info, call 823-2665 or visit dogearsbookstore.org.

KEEPING RESOLUTIONS – Physical fitness and swimming sessions, driver education and insurance reduction courses, music, singing and a variety of online classes are available in the spring semester of the Iroquois Central School Community Education Program. Some classes begin next week.

TWO IN ONE – Since 1994, Bishop Timon-St. Jude High School had two events to honor its outstanding alumni – the Athletic Hall of Fame for sports heroes and the John Timon Society for those who have distinguished themselves with contributions to the community. Beginning this year, they will be celebrated in a single event, Timon Honors Night, at 6 p.m. Feb. 17 in The Columns, 2221 Transit Road, Elma.
Inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame will be Erik T. Bohen, Class of 2000, and Daniel J. Granville, Class of 1996. Joining the John Timon Society will be Victor C. Laudisio, Class of 1968, and James E. Hatem, Class of 1976.
In addition, B. Jay Ryan, Class of 1998, will receive the Paul Lempko Alumni Appreciation Award; Matthew A. Struzik, Class of 1995, will be given the Tom Sands Community Service Award; James J. Rzad, Class of 1966, will be presented with the Spirit of St. Francis Award; and Gene Overdorf, Class of 1971, will receive the Father Claude Kean Builders Award.
