A multivehicle crash late Wednesday morning on the northbound I-190 near the Scajaquada Expressway exit caused heavy delays for motorists.
Police were on the scene of the crash near exit 11 which involves at least three or four vehicles, including a Metro bus, according to Buffalo Fire Department radio communications. Multiple people have to be extricated from vehicles, firefighters on the scene reported.
Buffalo police were diverting traffic off the highway at the Peace Bridge exit (exit 9) and then onto Niagara Street, the department said on Twitter.
Traffic on the 190 was stopped for at least a half-hour as crash victims were removed from their vehicles.

The crash happened at about 11:40 a.m.
Motorists should avoid the area due to significant backups.
