Motorists in Western New York will soon see billboards of gratitude over the next five days from Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton.
"Thank You Buffalo & Good Luck!" is the message from the Andy & Jordan Dalton Foundation that will be seen on five digital billboards along area highways.
The message comes as Buffalo Bills fans delivered an outpouring of donations — as of 5 p.m. Wednesday, more than 11,000 donors have contributed more than $255,792 — after the Bengals' last-minute win over the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday helped the Bills get into the playoffs and end the franchise's 17-year playoff drought. The Bills play the Jaguars in Jacksonville at 1 p.m. Sunday.
The billboards — two on the Kensington Expressway, two on the I-190 and one on the I-290 — will be visible starting at some point on Wednesday and run through Sunday.
A spokesman for the foundation declined to disclose the cost of the billboards, but said the cost will be paid out of the Daltons' personal annual donation to the foundation.
"We consider this a small gesture to express our appreciation to Buffalo and its fans," Andy Dalton said in a written statement released through the spokesman. "This continues to be so humbling, and we want to make sure everyone knows how grateful we are."
Update: 7,000 donors, $170,000. This is incredible. Let’s keep it up! pic.twitter.com/fOEwEyCCfR
