Reporters' Notebook: Jan. 1, 2018

OLAF FUB SEZ: According to novelist J. D. Salinger, born on this date in 1919, “The mark of the immature man is that he wants to die nobly for a cause, while the mark of the mature man is that he wants to live humbly for one.”

Ode To The New Year

A new day
A new year,
Another chance
To do it right,
To shed our facades
And open our hearts,
To embrace the world
For all of it’s worth.
Encouragement given
A smile for the other,
Lose judgement as history
Acceptance as love,
Stand tall through it all
Whatever life brings,
Be aware of the music
As our hearts sing.
