A fire Saturday in Lockport caused major damage to a three-family residence at 13 Harvey Ave. and forced out the occupants of the second and third floors.
The cause of the fire, which the Lockport Fire Department got under control by 4 p.m. under very cold conditions, remains under investigation. It caused an estimated $24,600 in property damage and $15,500 damage to the contents of the property, which has a market value of $41,000, fire officials said.
The first floor was unoccupied. The occupants of the other floors were offered shelter by the American Red Cross, or were staying with friends or in a hotel room that the building’s owner offered for the night, officials said.
Three firefighters suffered minor injuries, according to Fire Chief Patrick K. Brady.
