NFJC awards luncheon to recognize community leaders

More than 40 individuals, businesses and organizations will be honored when the National Federation for Just Communities of Western New York holds its annual Community Leader Awards luncheon at noon Jan. 24 in the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center.

This year's honorees range from BAND Against Bullying,  an inter-school music and arts competition that promotes respect for all students and rallies support for anit-bullying education efforts,  to Karibu News, a multilingual immigrant and refugee focused newspaper that seeks to inform both newcomers and the larger community and whose name is taken from the Swahili word for "welcome."

For tickets or other information about the luncheon, call the NFJC at 853-9596.
