"Amahl and the Night Visitors" returns to Westminster Presbyterian Church for the third year.
The one-act classic opera celebrates the Feast of the Epiphany, marking the end of the 12 days of Christmas. Performances are 7: 30 p.m. January 5 and January 6 and 2:30 p.m. January 7 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 724 Delaware Avenue, Buffalo.
The production features a chamber orchestra, lavishly designed sets, and period costumes. Returning from last year’s performances in the role of the Mother is Jessica Best, and reprising his role as Amahl is Buffalo City Honors student, 13-year-old Ian Torres.
The opera tells the story of a young disabled boy who lives in poverty with his widowed mother near Bethlehem as he meets three kings bearing gifts for the child Jesus.
General admission tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children. Patron tickets, which includes an Opening Night Reception, are $50. Tickets are available at the door or can be ordered online at wpcbuffalo.org.
