Western New Yorkers awoke to some bone-chilling temperatures Thursday morning. In the Buffalo metro area, the overnight low was 1 degree. It was even colder in other parts.
Here are some reports from the National Weather Service of Buffalo as of 8 a.m. today:
Medina logged the coldest for Western New York this morning with a reading of minus-18 degrees at 6:45 a.m.
Olean was minus-14 at 7:20 a.m.
East Aurora was minus-14 at 6:05 a.m.
Springville was minus-12 at 6:20 a.m.
Fillmore in Allegany County was minus-12 at 7:19 a.m.
Yorkshire in Wyoming County was minus-12 at 5:49 a.m.
The cold spell has helped bring Lake Erie temperatures down to 33 degrees -- almost frozen over -- which would mean greatly diminished lake-effect snow.
