WITTKOWSKY - Wilma K. Passed away suddenly at age 87 on December 23 2017, in Cleveland, OH after a brief illness. Born in Kenmore, NY to William and Edna Krauss Kuhn. Married William C. Wittkowsky in 1952 and built her home in N. Tonawanda, NY, where she resided until recently. Lifelong member of the United Church of Christ and recently joined the Church in the Circle in Cleveland. Summa cum laude graduate of SUNY College for Teachers in Buffalo, and earned an MS in Education from SUNY Buffalo. Taught in the Tonawanda schools for 33 years. In 1990, she received the Tonawanda Teacher of the Year award, and in 1991 was a finalist for NY State Teacher of the Year. After retiring in 1996, she was active in Fortnightly Club, Historical Society of the Tonawandas, several interfaith organizations and enjoyed theater in Buffalo and the Shaw Festival. In 2015, she moved to Judson Manor in Cleveland where she participated on the House Committee and Manor Mart, enjoyed music and cultural activities, focused on her love of literature and learning, and made many new friends while maintaining her lifetime friendships in the Tonawandas. Wilma was predeceased by her husband, and is survived by daughter Ann (Katherine Powell) of Seattle and son David (James Anderson) of Cleveland Heights; niece Susan Kick and nephew Stephen Wittkowsky, both of N. Tonawanda. A celebration of her life will be held at Judson Manor, 1890 E. 107th St., on Friday December 29th at 10 am. A memorial service will be held at Salem UCC in Tonawanda, NY in the spring. Memorials to Salem UCC, League of Women Voters or Judson Foundation.
