Irv Weinstein, 87, was a legendary figure in Buffalo media. He died Tuesday in Irvine, Calif., after battling Lou Gehrig's disease. Many notable figures in Buffalo and Canadian press remember Weinstein, who was known for phrases of alliteration and making up one-third of Channel 7's anchor trio "Irv, Rick and Tom."
"We all knew it was coming, but it's still a real shock," said Keith Radford of @WKBW on the death of Irv Weinstein https://t.co/GHjkC4Nz9J pic.twitter.com/tZkWOGOJav

My deepest condolences to Irv Weinstein's family. His achievement as a Buffalo broadcasting legend is sealed forever -- he was an original. I'll always remember him in this warm, friendly chat after the 2011 @bflobroadcaster Hall of Fame. RIP, my colleague, Irv. pic.twitter.com/a3rNWECAA8

Growing up in southern Ontario, he was the face of #Buffalo... even if it meant we always thought Tonawanda and Cheektowaga were in flames. Sad to hear of his passing. #IrvWeinstein https://t.co/aKxJlyqZJh

I grew up in WNY, where we've 3 broadcast legends: Irv, Commander Tom & Don Paul. Irv coined the late news catchphrase, "It's 11:00 pm. Do you know where your children are?" In WNY we sing "Irv!" instead of "Hey!" to Doctrin' the TARDIS at sports events. RIP Irv Weinstein: Hero.

RIP Irv Weinstein @WKBW #Buffalo is the news we watched when I was a kid in Cavan Ontario Canada. We only got 3 channels so Irv felt like a friend of the family. Thanks 🙏 Have not heard this theme song in over 30 years & boy does it rock 📺 #CommanderTom https://t.co/UHWsE75zja

A giant in Buffalo local tv news, Irv Weinstein, who for whatever reason, gave me my first job in tv, died today. A brilliant writer, a unique wit and just “Irv” to those who knew and loved him.

RIP Irv Weinstein, 87, legendary Buffalo WKBW-TV Channel 7 anchor, familiar to a generation of Torontonians for his Eyewitness News reports of "blaze-busters battling sky-scorchers in North Tonawanda." Weinstein was the model for Eugene Levy's "Earl Camembert" character on SCTV. pic.twitter.com/ksEQFrmzTa
