Williamsville native Hayley Scamurra and two other Buffalo Beauts were among the 12 forwards named to the National Women's Hockey League team that will face the U.S. Olympic women's hockey team in two exhibition games next month. The games will be played on Jan. 13 and 15 at the U.S. training complex in Wesley Chapel, Fla. Goalies and defenders will be announced Thursday.
Scamurra, who joined the Beauts after completing her final season of college play at Northeastern last March, joined the Buffalo team for the NWHL playoffs and helped the team win the Isobel Cup. She has two goals and five points in six games for the Beauts so far this season.
Joining her on the NWHL team are teammates Corinne Buie and Jess Jones. Buie of Edina, Minn., played at Providence College. Jones of Picton, Ont., played at Mercyhurst. The NWHL is made up of 10 Americans and two Canadians. All played Division I hockey in the U.S.
