Commissioning of Little Rock was a world-class event
I would like to thank everyone involved with the recent commissioning of the new USS Little Rock LCS-9 here in Buffalo. This was a world-class event and a truly unique moment in history, not only for our city, but also for the city of Little Rock, Ark., and the Navy, as well.
Local and state officials, representatives from Arkansas, the Navy, the shipbuilder’s yard in Wisconsin, and planners here in Buffalo all deserve a heartfelt thanks for their hard work. It was years in the making and came off without a hitch, even though the timing of it occurred during bad weather.
In true Buffalo fashion, nearly 10,000 people showed up and cheered on our newest warship and her crew as she was officially accepted into the Navy. I am proud to have borne witness to a once-in-a-lifetime event of this magnitude here in my hometown, and I will remember this for the rest of my life.
