The City of Niagara Falls is ready to accommodate those who want to prepay their 2018 city property taxes, Mayor Paul A. Dyster announced. Prepayment will allow taxpayers to take a federal tax deduction before restrictions begin next year.
The city will accept prepayment of both the first and second installments of 2018 property taxes, or only the first installment. Deadline for prepayments in person is 4 p.m. Friday. Payments by mail postmarked on or before Dec. 31 also will meet the deadline.
Taxpayers should call the Billing and Collection Office at 286-4350 or visit Room 109 in City Hall to determine how much tax is owed. The arrangement follows Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo’s executive order authorizing a speedup in issuing tax warrants and accepting prepayments.
