Restoration Society to serve Christmas dinner to nearly 100, mostly homeless

The Restoration Society, a recovery center that provides assistance for people diagnosed with psychiatric conditions, will host a Christmas dinner and gift presentation for its clients and the homeless from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Christmas Day in its Empowerment Academy, 327 Elm St.

Staff and board members expect to serve dinner Monday to nearly 100 people, mostly homeless, who otherwise would have nowhere else to spend the day. They also will receive a wrapped gift and get to choose a winter coat from the Colvin Cleaners Coats 4 Kids Program.

“Our priority,” says program manager Amanda Kopacz, “is to ensure that everyone has a warm, safe, friendly place to spend the holiday and have a hot, homemade Christmas dinner with great company, conversation and a positive memory.”
