A local education advocate who once served as an adviser to Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo reported she was groped and harassed on a recent flight from Newark to Buffalo.
In a tweet, Katie Campos, executive director of the local Teach for America chapter, said she shared her story on Twitter because she didn't think United handled the incident appropriately.
Campos said an intoxicated man seated next to her on the 45-minute flight groped her inner thigh three times. When she complained to a flight attendant, she was moved to a seat still within view of the man.
The man she accused of harassing her on the Dec. 19 flight was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct after the plane landed, according to an account in the Washington Post.
Have received a bunch of calls from media about my sexual harassment complaint while on @united. I did not want to make this into a media thing; I wanted to share feedback with united so this doesn't happen again. Here is what happened: pic.twitter.com/6HBstJysRT
