Following is a weekly listing of upcoming public events for those interested in health, fitness, nutrition and family support. Festival of Lights. 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Erie County Fairgrounds, 5600 McKinley Parkway, Hamburg. Light displays, holiday magic shows and the Tops Friendly Markets Winter Wonderland. $25 carload admission.

Frozen Forest Snowshoe Walk. 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Reinstein Woods Nature Preserve, 93 Honorine Drive, Cheektowaga. Explore the beauty of winter woods and learn how to identify local trees on this guided walk. Registration required by calling 683-5959. Snowshoe rental $5; $2 for Friends of Reinstein Woods members.

Ice skating. 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday through next Saturday, Ice at Canalside, Main at Scott streets. $6 for ages 13 and over, $4 for those 6 to 12, free for children 5 and under. Seasonal passes available. BlueCross BlueShield of WNY members with a membership card get $1 off. $4 skate rentals; $5 during special holiday hours during the next week. Battle @ Buffalo. 7 p.m. next Saturday, Verve Dance Studio, 910 Main St. (above Hyatt’s Art Store). Monthly competition to encourage the development of young dancers in a supportive environment and provide a place for the community to learn, share and support the dance community. $5 to watch and $6 to battle.
