Niagara Falls woman heads for prison on two gun felonies

Her attorney blamed Brittany L. Renda's boyfriends for her two gun possession arrests, but State Supreme Court Justice Richard C. Kloch Sr. sentenced Renda to three years in state prison Thursday.

Renda, 25, of Main Street, Niagara Falls, pleaded guilty to having a stolen gun in her purse when police searched her then-Niagara Avenue home Jan. 11, and to having a gun in a bedroom during another search June 16 in the Main Street residence.

"She just seems to pick the wrong boyfriends over and over again," attorney Jenelle Messer said.

"She lost her children because she had a loaded firearm in the bedroom next to where the child was sleeping," Kloch said. He denounced Renda's "disregard for the law" and her "utter lack of maternal skills."
