The winds of change are occurring inside the WKBW-TV (Channel 7) weather department.
In a memo to the staff, Channel 7 General Manager Michael Nurse announced that chief meteorologist Aaron Mentkowski and Andy Parker will be trading places in January.
Mentkowski is moving to the early morning program and Parker is moving to the 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts.
Autumn Lewandowski is leaving the morning but will remain on the noon newscast and add the 5:30 newscast and the 7 p.m. program "The Now" to her duties.
In the memo, Nurse explained Mentkowski's move by saying "weather is an important driver for AM consumers. More stations are positioning their chief meteorologists in the AM."
He added that Parker's move to the evening newscasts "is an opportunity for Andy's storytelling style to be presented" there.
Nurse said Lewandowski's new duties are "a chance for Autumn to showcase her personality/forecasting skills in more newscasts,"
Channel 7 remains in third place in all news time periods it competes with WGRZ-TV (Channel 2) and WIVB-TV (Channel 4).
