Halim D. Johnson of Niagara Falls, who was arrested along with former State Senate candidate Gia M. Arnold on gun charges last year, pleaded not guilty Tuesday to a new indictment accusing him of possessing heroin, cocaine and an illegal handgun.
Johnson, 19, of LaSalle Avenue, was arrested Oct. 17 on 20th Street in the Falls. Johnson ran from police and threw a loaded gun away during the chase, Niagara County Assistant District Attorney Peter M. Wydysh said. He was accused of intending to sell the drugs he also allegedly had with him.
Johnson was driving a car that Falls police stopped in February 2016, with Arnold as his passenger. Officers found an assault rifle inside the vehicle. Charges against Johnson were dropped after Arnold, 27, pleaded guilty and was placed on probation.
